Save Money By Getting The Maximum From Your Printer Ink Cartridges

Printer cartridges are not cheap to replace and they seem to get more expensive by the day. It is possible to make ink cartridges last longer by following these easy tips. You’ll find once you start implementing these changes, you’ll start getting the most ink from your printer cartridges.

The first step is to set the printing properties. Click “Preferences” on the printers properties dialog which comes when you click “Print”. Select “Draft” instead of “Best” or “Normal” option under the “Print Quality”. This reduces the amount of ink consumed while printing.

Also, under “Printing preferences” select “Advanced”  and choose “Grayscale” option. This allows you to use the black cartridge only hence saving on your colored one. This will keep your printer from using color ink when Black ink will get the job done. This can sometimes be difficult to do on recycled ink cartridges.

Another important tip is to use fonts that are not thick and avoid unnecessarily usage of the bold option. If there is need to use bold or large fonts for the titles, it will be prudent to used grayscale fonts instead of total black or colored ones.

If you are experiencing problems with colored print outs, remove the color ink cartridge and try to wipe the nozzles with a damp tissue and find out whether the problem will go away before buying a new one. This opens up clogged outlets that may be blocking the ink flow.

Finally, continue printing regardless of the “low ink” warning messages until you notice the print quality is low before considering replacements. This ensures that ink is completely used up. You may be amazed how long they last after the message appears.

These basic tips will assist you in optimizing the usage of your ink cartridges, which will then translate to cost reduction in the long run. It also means that you will not spend time with those messy refill kits.
