The VoIP ATA Device

As technology emerges, there are many developments that are continually changing these days, especially within the telecommunications sector. With VoIP technology, making telephone calls can be made anywhere and anytime via the internet. VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol is a recent development when it comes to voice communication and many business owners already see the economic sense and use of having this kind of technology in their business operations.

VoIP technology converts audio signals coming from an analog telephone to digital data signals that travel through the internet. The analog signals should be converted first so that the digital data can be transmitted via the internet. VoIP can happen in a lot of different ways but most packages include an ATA, IP phones, and computer to computer connections.

One way that VoIP functions is by using a VoIP ATA device. ATA simply stands for Analog Telephone Adapter. This device enables the traditional analog telephone to connect via the internet and make VoIP calls possible. The VoIP analog telephone adapter allows analog signals to be converted from the telephone to digital signals that will be used and transmitted via the internet. Among the VoIP packages available, this is the most common type and widely used because of its simplicity and ease in installation. There are service providers of VoIP that already integrate the ATA with their VoIP services. Some may also require software to be installed in the computer to start using the services, but commonly the ATA is directly connected to the phone and modem meaning no software is necessary.

Another VoIP module consists of using IP phones that are directly connected to the router with the use of Ethernet ports. This module requires hardware (a computer) and software to make the necessary calls.

The last VoIP module is using the computer to computer connection. This module requires special VoIP software in order to run correctly. There is a lot of free VoIP software available in the market and there are some packages that are sold at very low prices. Other equipment needed to make and receive calls using this type of VOIP setup includes microphones, speakers, and sound cards. This module allows you to make VoIP calls for free wherever the location (the only cost is the cost of the internet). These three VoIP modules require high speed internet connection to make reliable and high quality VoIP calls.

VoIP has many advantages and many business owners are already coming up to utilize this technology as part of their telecommunication system. With VoIP, calls become cheap, efficient, and fast anytime and anywhere as long as the needed equipment such as ATA, VoIP phones, and software are at hand.
